The Lintik Revival, created by Lee Watson of The Spirits Library in Manila, is a take on a classic Lintik Cocktail by the legendary Monk Antrim, an American-born bartender stationed at the Manila Hotel during the 1920s-30s.

This reimagined version adds in a Filipino element: the Sampaguita flower, the national bloom of the Philippines.

Lintik literally translates to "lightning", but can also be used as a profanity. As a cocktail, one can say that it hits like lightning. Charles Baker states that it "really isn't any species of cocktail at all, but a sort of liquid triple threat originated for reasons strictly dishonorable, but electrifying". Baker published the original recipe for the Lintik Cocktail in his book, The Gentleman's Companion, in 1939.

Ingredients:

20ml Botanical Gin

15ml Manille Calamansi Liqueur

30ml Sampaguita Hydrosol*

20ml Lime Juice

20ml Honey

1.6ml Angostura Bitters

*Make the Sampaguita Hydrosol

180g Sampaguita

90g Lime Peels

900ml Distilled Water

Method: Combine all ingredients in a Water Distiller. Set temperature to 100ºC. Collect all the liquid for about 30mins, then bottle.

Method:

Combine all the wet ingredients in mixing jar. Stir till chilled and pour over large ice block in a rocks glass. Garnish with a white edible orchid.
